LOS ANGELES—January 4, 2009—AdSnips, a leading advertising technology company, today announced the appointment of Gregory O. Welch as president and CEO. He will assume the role effective immediately.
Greg’s extensive 20 year career covering multiple facets of the telecommunications industry includes executive roles with a global reseller, MVNO and facilities-based carrier with infrastructure in the U.S. and abroad, as well as software development. His experience makes him an ideal fit to lead the company’s recent strategic realignment, as he brings both the distinguished leadership and technical acumen necessary for success.
“The direction of the mobile industry is fragmented with technology developers, marketing executives and business leaders all scrambling to find ways to leverage technical advancement and consumer behavioral targeting to their advantage—so far, no one has found exactly the right mix,” said Gregory O. Welch, new president and CEO at AdSnips.
“I see an incredible opportunity with AdSnips, and my goal is to bring a fresh perspective to the company’s strategic roadmap, business model and technology development plans with a focus on generating revenue with products and services that help wireless service operators manage the pre-call gap.”
Greg broke new ground as founder, president and CEO of XCast Labs, a global provider of a disruptive VoIP technology for telecom carriers and cable operators. In a similar role, he launched GlobalTouch, a long distance carrier that eventually grew to become a VoIP solutions provider for some of the world’s largest carriers. Both companies captured industry-leading status as service and technology providers for Tier I, II and III telecom and cable operators. Prior to these wins, Greg’s company Americom Communications achieved breakthrough sales to international customers in Russia, as well as Asia-Pacific, Middle Eastern and Latin American countries.
Greg also has served as executive vice president of both Sirius Telecom, a switching services provider, and Q Telecom, a facilities-based international telecom company. His vision to carve out new territory for industry-changing technologies goes back to one of his earliest positions with General Systems Solutions (GSS) where, during the early 1990s, he helped to revolutionize how business was conducted via the then emerging Internet. GSS set new standards for companies using the Internet as an online processing tool and paved the way for the use of Web-based transactional services or ASPs.
“Greg’s outstanding track record speaks for itself,” said Stephen Meade, founder of AdSnips. “His decision to join the AdSnips team with a vision to build on our past success and lead us in a new direction underscores the value of our core technology. We couldn’t be more pleased to have Greg on board.”
Recognized as a voice for excellence and standards, Greg is the recipient of numerous industry awards including Intel-Card News Top Ten to Watch (2008), the Top 100 Voices in VoIP (2008), and Communications Solutions Product of the Year (2006).
